A hundred years ago, in 1917, the Industrial Revolution was just a few decades old.

People around the world were still getting to grips with revolutionary ideas like machine-based mass production and factory lines that were replacing rural activities such as farming.  

If we somehow managed to travel back in time to speak to our forefathers, they’d laugh at the idea of personal computers or cell phones.

These things are now commonplace.

We are no longer excited or thrilled at the thought of the incredible technologies around us. Many of us are tired and jaded. This means it’s harder and harder for us to feel surprised, excited and delighted.

Attention is now one of the most valuable commodities on the planet.

For business owners, this means one thing: you are in danger of being drowned out by all this noise. You can be easily forgotten or ignored.

This is not surprising as there are countless other businesses in your field. They’re all jostling for precious attention. They’re all looking for more time in the spotlight.

This sounds disheartening, I know.

But I’m here to tell you that despite all of this, there’s a way to stand out in your field of expertise.

I call it the 3C method. It’s worked for me and it’s worked for many, many others, I’ve coached.

If you’re ready to stake your claim as an undisputed authority and leverage that status to create a successful business, here’s what you need to do.

Step#1: Commitment

Some entrepreneurs have all the talent and some even have the financial resources, to create a phenomenally successful business but they still fail.

The reason? They don’t commit.

Commitment begins with a decision: I will build a successful, profitable business. I will do what it takes. I will be known as a reputable authority in my field.

If you do not take this step, you simply won’t be able to successfully navigate the highs and lows of entrepreneurship…

The countless obstacles, challenges, difficulties and uncertainty.

These come with the territory. If you are not committed to becoming an authority and a successful business owner, you simply cannot succeed.

Commit with your heart, your mind, and your spirit. This is what you want. This is who you want to be – an undisputed authority and an epic success.

Step #2: Connection

Your reputation is only as strong as the connection you have with your audience. Here’s the truth: if you don’t create a powerful connection, you’re not going to achieve your goal of becoming an undisputed authority.

Make sure you seek out and utilize every opportunity you have to establish an authentic relationship with your audience. The secret to doing this is to be yourself. Don’t be afraid to share your personality.

You are one of a kind. Unique. There’s no one else quite like you.  When you are unafraid to be yourself, you will truly connect with your audience.

It should be your mission that every piece of content that you put out there — your videos, your social media content, your blog posts, your Facebook Lives— must capture the real you.

You should also offer your best work freely. Share your ideas, insights, and expertise. This is an extraordinarily effective way to show your audience that you truly care and they will begin to recognize and accept you for the expert that you are.

Step #3: Consistency

You can have the best blog posts and videos on the internet…

You may be the very best in the world at what you do…

But if you share value and content once every 2 months or only when the mood hits you, your success will forever remain out of reach.

Even worse…

You will ruin your reputation as a serious professional and an authority.

Consistency is key. You should apply this to your social media presence, your emails, and to any other platform your audience loves.

As you grow your business, look for ways to automate specific processes or to outsource tasks to others who can help you stay on top of things.

Some entrepreneurs believe that they can “take a break” when they hit a certain level of success and fame.

This is a massive mistake. There are always exciting new personalities and experts entering your field.

If you are not consistent in connecting with your audience and sharing value, you will be overshadowed by someone else who is.

Follow this 3-step framework and put the pieces in place so you are always on top of your game. Remember that, being respected and accepted as a key expert in your field is certainly not impossible.

You can do it but only if you are willing to do what it takes to achieve and sustain your status as an undisputed authority.
